Little Youth Basketball

Little Youth Basketball (Ages 4-5 & 6-7)

This 6 week introductory basketball program for girls and boys will focus on developing coordination and learning the basic skills & rules of basketball. Mini-sized balls will be used as well as 6ft-8ft baskets.  Practice/Games will be 2x per week in Los Alamos at the YMCA. This year, we will have a different format: all 4-5 year olds will practice and/or scrimmage together and all 6-7 year olds will practice and/or scrimmage together. Multiple coaches will be needed for each age group. All participants will get a T-shirt and a basketball to keep!

All program participants must have a parent/guardian sign a Child Liability Waiver and a COVID-19 waiver before participating.

Register: March 27th - May 3rd, 2026
Season: May 18th - June 25th, 2026
Season Fee: $80 / $60 for Y Members
Coach Discount: $30 discount for coaches! Multiple coaches will be needed for each age group.
***AGE RESTRICTION RULE: Child must be a minimum of 4 years old by start date of season OR turn 4 years old during the season to be able to register for LYB. As for the 6-7 year old division, your child must be no older than 7 years old by the start of the season to be eligible. If child turns 8 years old within the season, this is fine. However, child cannot be 8+ years old before the start of the season.

Program payment policy: payment upon registration is required, no refunds, credits will be given on a case to case basis.

These programs rely on volunteers. Volunteer coaches of any experience level are needed and greatly appreciated.
